Port North Common User Berth required Fabric Formed grout mattresses to be installed around the intake structure to provide protection against scour.
To be able to achieve this, installation dredging operations were required to remove 220m3 of sediment to achieve the required design RL.
The grout mattresses specified for this project are 400mm thick to provide protection around the piles and intake strainer against scour. Scour Tech has a proprietary product for this application created from Geotextile material. The Fabric Formed Mattresses are custom designed and built to cater for the structure’s needs, providing formwork for pouring concrete within the marine environment
